Resilience through community and conservation
Andamans Conservancy Foundation (ACF) is an interdisciplinary nonprofit working to understand and address socio-environmental challenges unique to the ecologically sensitive Andaman Archipelago.
We believe that conservation must be community-led. Through shared knowledge, capacity-building, and opportunity creation, we foster sustainable livelihoods that protect the unique culture, habitats, and species of the Andaman Islands.
To this effect our work integrates field-based research, participatory development, and ecological stewardship to build long-term resilience—for both people and the places they call home.

Our Mission
Our mission is to foster community-led conservation in the Andaman Archipelago by integrating research, participatory development, and ecological stewardship—supporting sustainable livelihoods that protect the islands’ unique cultures, habitats, and biodiversity.

Our Vision
Our vision is a future where socio-economic equity, biodiversity conservation, and community-driven sustainable development come together to build a resilient, inclusive, and thriving Andaman Archipelago—for both its people and ecosystems.
ACF began with a simple need: to give back to the islands that gave so much.
Vir first visited the Andamans in the early 2000s, drawn by Havelock’s famed coral reefs and beaches. But it was Mayabunder—a quieter, less-travelled part of the archipelago—that left a lasting imprint. Its layered history, distinct ecology, and deep-rooted communities stirred something more lasting.
As environmental and cultural pressures grew, so did the call to act. That quiet urgency led to the founding of ACF: a nonprofit committed to protecting the islands through locally rooted, community-led solutions.
Today, ACF is a growing platform that brings together researchers, islanders, and changemakers to shape a future that honours the past—and protects what’s most precious.
