Our work is rooted in small, steady shifts that build long-term resilience—for both the islands and the people who call them home.
Here’s what we’ve set in motion so far:
Shifting perspectives across communities
We’ve inspired at least 10 individuals across different island communities to view their environments with deeper awareness—understanding how fragile and interconnected the ecological balance of the Andamans truly is.
Creating pathways for alternate livelihoods
We’ve opened new possibilities for income and identity by hiring local affiliates as conservationists and supporting the revival and expansion of traditional knowledge systems. For many, working with ACF is more than a job—it’s a shift into purposeful, place-based stewardship.
Building capacity from the inside out
We’ve facilitated internal learning sessions for our team and affiliates—ranging from financial literacy to mental health and behavioural awareness. These sessions, conducted by Jacquelyn and our program head, are helping create a strong, emotionally intelligent foundation for sustainable work in the field.
Collaborating with partners to expand our reach
We’re actively working with institutions and grassroots organisations including Local Voices in Conservation, The Imagination Station, Biodiversity of Andamans, and CARESS, where we’re co-leading workshops and citizen science initiatives on localised conservation, education, and livelihoods.
These early steps may be quiet—but they’re powerful.
They mark the beginning of a conservation model rooted in trust, lived experience, and local leadership.
